FAQ

ARE YOUR KITS VEGAN-FRIENDLY?

Yes! All our kit ingredients are vegan-friendly and have suggestions on vegan, vegetarian, and meat option meals.

I'VE NEVER COOKED INDIAN FOOD BEFORE, IS IT DIFFICULT?

No, at all! Our kits have been tested again and again to make sure our cooking instructions are clear and easy to follow.  For useful tips and tricks on how to cook our kits or Indian food in general, make sure you visit our blog and follow us on social media @HaldiiBox

CAN I RECYCLE YOUR PACKAGING?

Yes! As big fans of meal kits, we were shocked at the amount of non-recyclable packaging that was being used. We set out to make our kits as environmentally friendly as possible and look at ways to further cut the plastics we use. All our packaging is recyclable and, more importantly, in our view, re-usable for our customers.

Outer Packaging: Our kits come to you in compostable and recyclable boxes, even down to compostable and recyclable packaging slips, labels and paper tape! Our paper tape can be re-used up to 5 times before recycling.

Food Kits: Are packaged in renewable, FSC-certified paper and are kind to the planet's natural resources and fully recyclable after use. To keep spices and leafy herbs fresh, we use a recyclable 4 – LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene) recyclable plastic.

You will need to check with your Local Authority to ensure it is recycled in your area.

You can recycle this plastic if your Local Authority mentions:

  • Bread bags

  • Frozen food bags

  • Squeezable bottles

  • Carrier bags that can be stretched – Local authorities often don’t collect carrier bags, but can be recycled in local supermarkets

For those who can't recycle plastic film at home, our bags can be washed and reused at home, or recycled at carrier bag collection points at the larger stores of most major supermarkets.

We have tried using compostable solutions; however, they don't hold up very well when shipping. This is something we are working on to become fully plastic-free. All our food labels are compostable and recyclable.

Recipe Card Instructions: Are eco-friendly, compostable, biodegradable and recyclable.

WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO BUY ALONGSIDE YOUR KITS?

That's the best bit; we include all spices, vegetables and herbs required for the curry 'base'; all you need to do is add whatever meat or vegetables you prefer.

For our palak dish, you will also need to buy your own choice of spinach.

Recipes may also call for oil, salt, butter, milk (or if you're feeling naughty cream), which you should hopefully already have at home!

CAN I CONTROL THE CHILLI HEAT IN THE DISH?

Yes, you can! We add more fresh chillies in our kits than is required for your preferred heat levels. Please refer to our chilli guide in the recipe instructions for a mild, medium or hot curry.

HOW MANY PEOPLE DO YOUR KITS FEED?

Here at Haldii, we believe in good-sized generous portions! So our curry kits and rice kits will easily feed up to 3. Our naan kits and paratha kits will feed up to 2 people. So if you are hosting a dinner party, check out our haldii box for 4-6 people, or contact us at info@haldii.co.uk if you have larger numbers you need to accommodate.

WHEN WILL I GET MY KITS?

We ship our kits every Tuesday, with delivery expected the next day on Wednesday. Please ensure you have placed all orders by the cut off of Sunday at 6 pm to ensure delivery for the following week.

I'VE GOT MY KITS! WHERE DO I STORE THEM?

Please keep all curry, naan and paratha kits refrigerated upon delivery, as this will keep them at their freshest. Our rice kits can be stored in a cool, dry, dark place.

HOW LONG DO THE KITS LAST?

Our kits come with a best before date, which is 5 days after delivery. Our kits will last past this time but fresh herbs/ingredients may not be at their best. Alternatively, you can freeze your kits to save for later by following all the recipe card preparation steps and freezing perishable components for up to one month. Keep spices and dry ingredients in a cool dark place. When you are ready to prepare, remove ingredients from the freezer and follow the recipe.

I AM COOKING FOR 8+ PEOPLE. CAN I BULK ORDER YOUR KITS?

We can do special bulk orders if you are cooking for 8 or more people. Just contact us via our form on our 'Contact' page or email us at info@haldii.co.uk, and we are more than happy to help you design the perfect meal for your loved ones!

WE LOVE YOUR KITS AND ENJOY HAVING THEM AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK. CAN I SET UP A REGULAR STANDING ORDER?

Of course! We can set up a standing order for any intervals and for as long as you like. Just contact us via our form on our 'Contact' page or email us at info@haldii.co.uk.

MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY WOULD ENJOY THE EXPERIENCE OF COOKING THEIR OWN AUTHENTIC DISHES. CAN I GIFT A HALDII BOX?

Absolutely! Just tick the 'gift' button when choosing your kits, write your special message, and we will make sure a lovely card is included with your delivery.

DO YOU CATER FOR PEOPLE WITH ALLERGIES?

Allergens in our kits are clearly highlighted on our website, on the kit packaging, and in the recipe instructions. In addition to allergen information provided, unfortunately, due to production and packing methods by haldii and its suppliers, kits may also contain low levels of the following allergens: celery, cereals containing gluten (such as barley and oats), crustaceans (such as prawns, crabs and lobsters), eggs, fish, lupin, milk, molluscs (such as mussels and oysters), mustard, peanuts, sesame, soybeans, sulphur dioxide and sulphites and tree nuts (such as almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, brazil nuts, cashews, pecans, pistachios and macadamia nuts).

Our naan kits and methi paratha all contain wheat and gluten.

If a recipe calls for additional dairy to be added in any of the dishes; these can be substituted for non-milk products.
