Have you ever started making dinner and realised that your ingredient list is missing something crucial? Cue the panic!
If you're anything like us, you love making food from scratch. But sometimes, after a long day at work, the idea of chopping up all those herbs and veggies can be pretty hard to swallow. We feel you— and been there!
You don't have to let this happen to you. Here's an easy way to save yourself time after a long hard day at work. Freeze herbs and ingredients like garlic, coriander, onions, tomatoes, ginger—anything you use a lot of in cooking—to cook with later.
Here's how it works:
1. Cut up or blend your ingredients. It is best to prepare them in the way you usually cook, so you can easy throw them into the pan from frozen. We like to have the following on hand
Tomatoes - blend in a food processor or dice finely
Onions - diced
Ginger - chop or grate finely
Garlic - chop or grate finely
Coriander - chopped finely
Parsley - chopped finely
Basil - chopped finely
Mint - chopped finely
Chillies - chopped finely
2. Transfer the ingredients to a freezer bag or food storage box. We like to separate them out in the bag and try to freeze flat if possible, so the ingredients don't clump together and you can break off as much as you need when cooking.
3. Stash in the freezer until you're ready to cook. That way, when you start chopping away at your ingredients for that curry recipe you've been dying to try, your onions are already diced up and just waiting for you in the freezer.
Isn't that easy? You can get back to what's really important: relaxing after a long day at work.
Haldii offers all the fresh ingredients in the right proportions to cook a curry from scratch - just add your favourite meat or vegetables so it's perfect for your taste! And if you need to you can also freeze the ingredients to cook whenever you need something quick to hand!
